Jason started dancing at an early age and soon found his way to a local dance school in Preston. By the age of 12 he was competing in the ‘Open to World’ Championships at Blackpool, and by the age of 14 he had won the first of five British World Open and British National titles as part of the Preston formation team. Jason along with his wife Shemayne have also competed as a couple with great success.
Over the years Jason has appeared on TV many times including shows such as The One Show, Blue Peter, Where The Heart Is, Come Dancing, Euro Sport, Granada Reports and North West Tonight. Jason, Shemayne and their son, Connor, appeared on BBC Breakfast Time to discuss the recent revival of ballroom dancing. Shemayne danced with David Dimbleby at Blackpool Tower Ballroom for his BBC1 series How We Built Britain.
Jason has successfully represented the UK in World and European championships in Germany & Norway, and has toured Japan and performed for HRH Prince Andrew.
Jason and Shemayne retired from competing in 1998 and focused their time on teaching and have since taught many thousands to dance. In 2005 Jason and Shemayne were very honoured to be asked to organize events and teach in the most famous ballroom in the World, the Tower Ballroom Blackpool and are now Credited with breathing new life into this famous dance venue.
Although most of Jason and Shemayne’s competitive career was in the Latin and Ballroom scene their teaching encompasses a wide range of dance styles which include Salsa, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Ballroom, Latin American, Freestyle, Hip Hop, Sequence, Line Dancing, Argentine Tango, Formation team choreography, Performance and show choreography and tailor made dance packages.
In only 7 years DWP have won over 40 team titles in many styles including Latin
formation,Cheerdance,and Streetdance making them one of the most respected schools in the country
